Nanovia Istroflex is a flexible filament with and excellent inter layer adhesion. Based on oyster powder and a biodégradable polymer, Nanovia Istroflex can be composted.

Using Nanovia Istroflex, biodegradable oyster shell based composite 3D filament, 3D print every day use flexible projects.

Its flexibillity is perfectly suited for technical parts that require a certain amount of give or bounce such as shock and vibration absorbers, silent blocks, gaskets, interstitial constricted materials, etc…

Developed in conjunction with the technical platform ComposiTIC and Usine de Kervellerin in 2015, Nanovia Istroflex 3D filament was awarded the CCI Morbihan innovation award.

Application recommendations

Storage

  • Store Nanovia Istroflex in a dry and dark location, if possible with a desiccant.
  • In order to guarantee good printing conditions dehydrate Nanovia Istroflex at 60°c for 4 hours or longer, when the spools has been exposed to moisture for an extended period.

Printing

  • Extrusion temperature : between 250 and 280°C
  • Heated bed temperature : between 40 and 70°C

Post treatment

  • It’s not possible to sand Nanovia Istroflex

Health and safety

Biodegradability

Nanovia Istroflex contains is a heavy polymer, based on biodegradable monomers and cosmetic grade oyster shells.

Food safety

Nanovia’s Istroflex’s raw materials conform to European Commission’s ruling n°10/2011: materials and plastic objects destined to come into contact with food ; modified on February 5th 2015 by UE ruling n°2015/174.

According to this ruling, the migration should be measured on finalized products in contact with food wares in standard temperature and duration conditions.

“Le matériau ISTROFLEX® utilisé pour fabriquer, au mieux de notre connaissance, n’a pas été intentionnellement fabriqué ou formulé avec les substances énumérées à l’article 4.1 de la directive européenne CE / 65/2011 (RoHS): Les métaux lourds (tels que cadmium, le chrome hexavalent, le plomb et le mercure), biphényles polybromés (PBB), les éthers diphényliques polybromés (PBDE).”

Par conséquent, la matière première ISTROFLEX® est en conformité avec les exigences de l’article 4.1 de la directive européenne CE / 65/20011

Endocrine disruptor test:

1 Method OEDT – SERPBIO Laboratory. Sample : NANOVIA 3D filament Istroflex.

Study: Measuring the activity of the human estrogenic receptors expressed in S. cerevisiae (SW303.1B)

Every measurement is reproduced 3 times independently with the different contents of the tested sample

Results: The obtained data shows that the tested product does not influence the measured activity

Note on the ratio of circulating plasmic œstradiol: With menopaused women / with men: * [4×10-11M – 2×10-10M] with pre menopaused women (excluding ovulation): [1×10-10M – 5×10-10M] / with women (ovulation): [2×10 -9m] * a value is considered critical when it exceeds [2×10-11M].

CONCLUSION: The tested material can be considered absent of endocrine disruptors.

Packaging

Spools are packed in individual boxes, sous-vide with desiccant. Spools are equipped with both a material traciblity and a production series number.
